Thinking about a fall wedding?
If you live in the New York/New Jersey tri-state area you may have seen a recent switch from spring and summer weddings to fall. While May and June used to be the most popular months to marry, many couples have now moved their save the dates to October and November. I personally love this time of year, it lends itself to great colors, amazing outdoor photo ops, comfort food and comfortable temperatures. In my wedding planning business I have seen a significant increase in the amount a fall bookings I have and thought I would share the reasons why as a wedding planner, these weddings have been s me of the most fun and beautiful for all those couples contemplating a fall wedding.
1. The Colors of the leaves:
Some of the most beautiful wedding photographs I've seen have taken place at a state park in New Jersey. The rich red, orange and brown that nature offers us during this season is the best backdrop and contrast to your white/ivory wedding dress. This color palette also lends itself to beautiful bridesmaids dresses, centerpieces and décor throughout your wedding ceremony and reception.
2. Comfort food:
When I think of fall I automatically think of rich comfort foods that can be incorporated into your wedding dinner, dessert table or as a favor. Think candy apples, hot chocolate station, smores bar or a rich donut tower with baggies for guests to take home as a sweet treat at the end of the night. The below tower was a big hit at an October wedding I planned this year!
3. Comfortable Temperatures:
With October and November, you are typically looking at afternoon temps in the 50's and 60's, making for some pleasant and comfortable tuxedo and evening gown clad family members. Strapless dresses are still very popular this time of year and can always be covered up with a shawl for guests who feel chilly. Many outdoor ceremonies still take place this time of year and most reception centers even have outdoor space heaters if it gets a little chilly.
